Verizon Fios Internet Review

Fiber is the fastest type of internet you can find. Connections travel over cables that contain thin optical fibers, so your internet is lightning fast, but not all providers are created equal. Some will fit your needs better than others.

Verizon Fios fiber-optic internet service is praised for its fast speeds and uptime guarantee. Reaching download speeds as high as 940Mbps, which is ten or more times faster than your typical DSL speed, you won’t have interruptions streaming live TV or playing online multiplayer games.

That said, is Verizon Fios internet the right choice for you? Let’s find out.

Who is Verizon Fios internet for?

Verizon Fios offers ample speed for users who have heavy streaming usage, like to game, or need to transfer large files.

The entry-level Verizon Fios plan offers download speeds of up to 300Mbps for $39.99/month. This plan works for most users looking to stream, game, or surf the web across several devices at once. Streaming video on multiple screens should let the entire family enjoy their favorite shows and movies with no interruption unless they’re all playing in 4K Ultra High Definition. In this case, you may want to go for a plan with more bandwidth, such as the mid-tier 500Mbps plan for $64.99/month.

The Gigabit Connection plan is the top tier in Verizon Fios at $89.99/month. It has more than enough bandwidth for most households with no data cap, making it an option for customers who will have several screens streaming in high-definition at the same time.*

How does Verizon Fios internet compare to other providers?

When it comes to the competition, Xfinity delivers fast internet speeds with low promotional prices, and you’re very likely to find it offered in your neighborhood. That said, Verizon elbows past Xfinity with no annual contracts, low prices, more reliable speeds, and better customer service.

AT&T internet scores high when it comes to availability alone. But, otherwise, its offerings are similar to Verizon Fios in speed and price. That said, if you’re looking for a more robust package without much concern about internet speeds or bandwidth usage, then AT&T gives you that option.

Both Verizon Fios and Spectrum offer fairly priced, no-contract plans with fast upload and download speeds. If you want wide coverage in over 41 states, Spectrum can offer that, but Verizon Fios has a reputation for reliability and good customer service.
