WOW! Internet Review

If WOW! is an ISP you are considering, we’re here to help take the headache out of your search. We’ve pulled together all the details you’ll need regarding WOW! internet plans, pricing, and how WOW! internet reviews stack up against the competition.

Who is WOW! internet for?

Though WOW! is considered to be the sixth-largest ISP in the US, its service areas are limited to regions within 9 states including Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee. While pricing and package options vary in each market, WOW! internet tends to be an affordable option in the markets it serves.

WOW! internet currently offers four packages that range in price depending on your market, but they generally start at prices from $19.99/month to $64.99/month for the first 12 months.*

WOW! 100Mbps

The entry-level package starts at $19.99/month for the first 12 months in most markets and offers 100Mbps speed – which works well for homes that like to stream TV and surf the web. The price will increase by $20/month after the first year.

WOW! 200Mbps

At a speed of 200Mbps, the second-tier package is also for households that are casual internet users who like to stream TV and surf the web, but perhaps have a few more devices in the home to support. This plan starts at $29.99/month for the first 12 months in most markets and includes a $100 Visa Prepaid Reward card. The price goes up by $15/month after the first year.

WOW! 500Mbps

For households with smart home devices, TV streaming on multiple devices, and maybe a gamer – the WOW! 500 Mbps plan has enough oomph to keep the whole house running smoothly. Choosing this plan will also score you a $200 Visa Prepaid Reward card. The plan starts at $44.99/month in most markets for the first 12 months and then increases by $10/month after the first year.

WOW! 1Gig

For households with lots of users and heavy internet usage that includes multiplayer online gaming, video-conferencing, HD video, smart home devices, and more, the WOW! 1Gig plan offers speeds up to 1,000Mbps, includes one free year of HBO Max, and includes a $300 Visa Rewards Card. Starting at $64.99/month in most markets, this plan will increase by $5/month after the first year.

Key considerations

Contract Requirements

WOW! internet service does not require you to sign a contract. However, the advertised prices are only valid for the first 12-months and will increase. You will also need to enroll in paperless billing and autopay, or each plan will cost an additional $5/month.

Data Allowances

There is a data cap on all four WOW! internet service plans that ranges from 1.5TB to 3TB per month. You will be charged an additional $10 for every 50GB of additional data, however, overage charges are capped at $50 per month.

Installation Costs

All WOW! internet service plans include a free self-installation kit so you won’t have to worry about installation fees.

Additional Costs and Add-Ons

  • If you need to rent a modem, the cost starts at $10/month in addition to your monthly contract. You may use your own modem however as long as it is compatible with WOW! internet service.
  • You may add on the Whole-Home WOW! WiFi mesh network starting at $9.99/month.
  • You may add on Service Protection for $5 more per month
  • You may add on streaming TV subscriptions to your plan for an additional cost. Options include: YouTube TV, Fubo, Sling and Philo.

What others say about WOW! internet

In terms of customer service, WOW! has earned some bragging rights. In fact, it placed second for overall customer satisfaction – just behind AT&T – in a 2021 JD Power review of ISPs. Furthermore, in 2021 WOW! internet tied for seventh in customer service out of 24 well-known ISPs in PC Mag’s Readers’ Choice 2021: Internet Service Providers review.

WOW! internet reviews give their plans high marks for pricing, too. A recent review by CNET complimented the ISP for being “more affordable than comparable plans from larger cable providers such as Xfinity, Spectrum, and Cox” as well as a better value compared to similar plans from AT&T and Frontier.

How does WOW! internet compare to other providers?

Depending on the market, WOW! might go head-to-head with ISPs such as AT&T, Xfinity, Spectrum, and Cox and fairs well among the competition. WOW! internet plans are similar to AT&T and Cox who do not require contracts and, although AT&T and Spectrum offer unlimited data, the data limits for WOW! are quite reasonable at 1.5 – 3TB per month. WOW! is priced better than most competitors, too, with AT&T being the only ISP with comparable pricing.
